My TWA Puff...Sorta

So, I got my hair cut on the 20th of April and so in less than a week, it will be two months. Since then, I've been enjoying my cut and color thoroughly. I've also been enjoying doing WNGs exclusively...it is low manipulation (I think lower manipulation than when I was re-twisting my hair every night to preserve my twist outs), it is also truly the easiest hair care has ever been for me.

It doesn't mean that it's been perfect, but it's been better than it's ever been. Due to the aforementioned, my hair retention has also been the best it's ever been. Just 2 months later, I'm able to put my hair up in a sorta pseudo puff (the back of my hair still has a ways to go but it's getting there). Here, have a look...

What I did for the puff:
  • Wet my hair with plain ole water
  • Slicked back my old wash and go with a TON of eco styler gel lol (that is how I could get the shorter back to corporate)
  •  I used just my palms no brushes or combs and tied it back with a scarf and viola!

In other news, we found a place and will be moving in on the weekend so posting will be more regularly.

Till later curlies :)

  2. Hello! My name is Tamika and I have been natural for about 10 years now but I still hate my hair. I haven't quite mastered step one which is moisture retention. I came across your blog because I realized that my hair is just naturally thin. For the last two months I have been getting my hair straightened by the Dominicans and its been coming out nicely but I am certain that there is some heat damage so I know that I will probably have to chop again. Anyway, I was hoping you could give me some pointers on just how to first, recover my hair from the heat damage and second, keep my thin hair moisturized. I know that there is tons of info out here on various sites but wading through it makes my head spin, lol.

  3. your puff looks super gorgeous! I don't quite have a twa but I have a hard time with my puff looking as cute as yours looks! So, I've started wearing other styles like twist outs and such!

  5. Francine: time takes care of it and having had long hair before, I say enjoy your length now too :)

Tamika: What I have found that has helped tremendously with the thinness of my hair is embracing my shrinkage. I used to fight shrinkage all the time but I've since learned that my hair shrinks for a reason...to make it appear thicker and fuller. You know what I will say about heat. But on the flip side, if it's working for you right now and you accept that you might need to chop again, I say go for it. Two people I love watching and learn so much from is Naptural85 and mahoganycurls. they give you basic, no-nonsense hair care advice that are effective. Above all, Love your hair :)

Thanks Phenomenallyme and you are welcome Moya, I'm happy to have been of help. I'm still figuring it all out so I will keep blogging about it :)
